The Rev. Michael Blaess joined us as interim priest in October 2020. Even in the midst of a global pandemic, a pastoral transition at St. Michael’s, and all the changes and chances of life, he gives thanks to God that our hope is in Jesus Christ who is the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). God is faithful and his love and power to make all things new are certain – in your life and the life of the world.
He lives in Murfreesboro where his wife Kristine has served as rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church since August 2019. Since then, he has served as interim priest at St. Mary Magdalene in Fayetteville and St. Joseph of Arimathea in Hendersonville. Before that, he and Kristine served together for nearly seven years on staff at St. George’s in Nashville. Prior to their time in the Diocese of Tennessee, they served for nearly 12 years as rectors/priests-in-charge in separate congregations in southeast Idaho. They have two delightful kids, Jack (15) and Natalie (13).
His last name sounds like “Blaze.” You can call him Michael, Father Michael, Father Blaess – whatever you are comfortable with.
